‘Make this card the default’ checkbox option for when adding card details

    We have added a checkbox option, ‘Make this card the default’, to the card details section on the web UI. This functionality is already available on the Jumbo Lottery Platform admin and now operates the same way on the customer-facing site.

    Feature details

    The ‘Make this card the default’ checkbox option now appears anywhere a customer adds a new card, including:

    • Checkout
    • In cards/accounts
    • Oz Lotteries wallet 

    Conditions for display 

    • Recurring purchases:

      • Account → My tickets → AutoPlays → Change payment method → New credit/debit card
      • This section always sets the new card as the default fund, as the customer is changing the payment method for their recurring purchases. Therefore, the default fund UI option is never displayed here.
    • Wallet:

      • Account → My funds → Deposit funds → Credit/debit card → Add new card
      • Show the default fund UI option only if the customer has an existing default fund and CLIENT_CAPABILITY_ADD_CARD_DEFAULT_FUND is enabled.
    • Checkout:

      • Go to cart → Checkout → Credit/debit card → Add new card
      • Show the default fund UI option only if the customer has an existing default fund and CLIENT_CAPABILITY_ADD_CARD_DEFAULT_FUND is enabled.
    • Cards and accounts:

      • Account → My funds → Cards and accounts → Add new credit or debit card
      • Show the default fund UI option only if the customer has an existing default fund and CLIENT_CAPABILITY_ADD_CARD_DEFAULT_FUND is enabled

    Why we made this change

    This update was implemented based on feedback from our partners. This enhancement will improve the overall user experience and streamline the process of managing payment methods on our platform. The new checkbox ensures that:

    • Customers can quickly set their new card as the default fund without navigating to the cards/accounts section of their account.
    • The most up-to-date card with valid expiry details is set as the default, ensuring continuity for recurring purchases.

    How to activate this feature

    This change by default will be switched on for all clients. However, configuration options are available to enable or disable this functionality based on each client’s needs.
