We are excited to announce a significant update to the Jumbo Lottery Platform (JLP) Point of Sale (POS) app, designed to enhance your sales agents' workflow and improve customer interactions. This release introduces key improvements to usability, efficiency, and app distribution.
Key Improvements
Enhanced Printer Compatibility
- The printer SDK has been upgraded, ensuring seamless printing on newer Android devices.
- This resolves compatibility issues and provides reliable, uninterrupted printing for sales agents.
In-Field Customer Data Editing
- A new "Edit Customer Details" form enables sales agents to update customer information on the spot.
- This removes the need for back-office data entry, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
Simplified Address Lookup
- The default address lookup radius is now set to 150km from the device’s GPS location.
- This enhancement improves search accuracy and speeds up customer creation and editing.
Streamlined Date of Birth Entry
- The DOB selector now defaults to 40 years prior to the current date for faster account creation.
- Sales agents can still manually input the exact DOB if needed, offering greater flexibility.
Improved App Distribution
- The POS app is now distributed through a dedicated Google Drive location.
- Each client receives a unique version of the app, ensuring a controlled and secure delivery method.
Important Considerations & Trade-offs
New App Installation Required
- This update is provided as a new APK file, requiring a fresh installation.
- Action required: Uninstall the previous "Sales Terminal" APK before installing the new version to prevent conflicts.
Validation & Address Auto-Complete
- The "Edit Customer Details" form includes robust server-side validation but limited client-side validation.
- Note: Address auto-complete is currently available only during new customer creation.
Printer Configuration
- Each new app installation will require printer configuration and selection.
- Ensure that "allow nearby devices" permission is enabled for proper functionality.
Future Customer Search Enhancements
- We are actively working on improvements to customer search functions across all systems, including POS.
- A minor update may be released in the future to incorporate these enhancements.
Client-Specific App Distribution
- Each client receives a dedicated Google Drive link to download their unique POS app version.
