Improved Error Messaging for Declined operator purchase transactions

We've improved the error messaging on the Jumbo Lottery Platform (JLP) operator purchase payment screen to provide clearer feedback when a transaction declines.

Previously, specific error messages were limited to a few decline types, making it difficult for operators to understand why a transaction had failed without having to navigate to the customer’s transaction history. With this update, we've introduced more verbose and contextual error responses. As error codes and messaging vary across payment gateways, we’ve implemented logic to surface the decline reason from the relevant payment gateway helping operators better identify and communicate the reason for the failure and ultimately increase the likelihood of recovering the sale.

Common decline reasons now surfaced more clearly include:

    • Do not honour
    • Insufficient funds
    • Card reported as lost or stolen

This provides JLP operators with a more accurate and actionable view, without exposing raw gateway messages that might be unclear or technical.

    Why this matters

Equipping JLP operators with more clarity at the point of failure empowers them to guide supporters effectively through the next steps whether it’s retrying a different payment method or escalating a blocked card.

We are committed to continually improving our product and support, and we value your feedback. If you have any questions or suggestions about this update, please don't hesitate to contact us at support@poweredbyjumbo.com.
