Stripe Terminal readers are now support for on the Jumbo Lottery Platform’s (JLP) Point of Sale (POS) apps to improve how face-to-face ticket sales are processed.
Previously, payments taken on an EFTPOS machine needed to be manually recorded as card or cash in Jumbo Lottery Platform after the transaction was completed. This process was slow and could lead to entry errors.
With Stripe Terminal integration, payments can now be processed directly through the POS app. This helps operators complete sales faster and with greater accuracy.
What’s new
Direct payments through Stripe Terminal readers
Operators can now process payments directly through a connected Stripe Terminal reader in the POS app.
This means:
- Payments are processed and recorded automatically
- Tickets are issued immediately after payment is approved
- Manual payment entry is no longer required
Supporters can complete their purchase using tap to pay, or by using a credit/debit card with a connected reader.
This reduces reconciliation errors and speeds up the sales process for in-person channels.
Tap to pay and multiple reader types supported
Operators can connect different Stripe Terminal reader options depending on their setup.
Supported options include:
- Tap to pay on tablet (in-built NFC chip)
- USB reader
- Bluetooth reader
Tap to pay allows supporters to pay by tapping their credit/debit card or mobile wallet directly on the tablet or terminal.
Operators can connect and manage readers directly in the Manage Payment Reader screen in the POS app.
New payment option at checkout
When completing a purchase in the POS app, operators can now select:
- Stripe Terminal Reader
After selecting this payment method and clicking Checkout, the supporter completes the payment using tap to pay or a connected card reader. Once the payment is approved, the sale is completed and tickets are issued.
Simple reader management in the POS app
Operators can easily manage connected payment readers from the Manage Payment Reader screen.
From this screen, operators can:
- Connect a payment reader
- Disconnect a reader
- Install reader software updates
- Select the location linked to the reader
Admin controls to enable the payment gateway
Operators can enable Stripe Terminal payments in Admin.
To enable the gateway:
Admin > Operations > Platform configs > Payments config
Ensure the following are enabled in the Stripe section:
Payment method:
- Terminal reader
Payment options:
- POS
- POS recurring purchases
Once enabled, the Stripe Terminal payment option becomes available in the POS app.
