Partners can now configure the downgrade option in the cancellation and pause flow independently from the downgrade option in the self-editing flow.
Why this matters
Until now, a single configuration controlled whether supporters could reduce their recurring purchase value - regardless of whether they were mid-cancellation or simply editing their account. These two moments serve different purposes, and they now have separate controls.
What's new
Independent downgrade step in the cancellation flow
Partners can now enable the downgrade retention step in the pause and cancellation flow without also allowing supporters to reduce their value from their account page. The downgrade offer appears as an alternative to leaving - without opening up self-service downgrades more broadly.
Self-editing without affecting the cancellation flow
Partners can enable value editing in the self-editing flow while keeping the cancellation flow focused on preferred retention steps. Each flow is now configured independently.
How to configure this
Both settings are managed independently in Admin under recurring purchase configuration.
RECURRING_PURCHASE restrict_product_offer_downgrade (existing setting)

Note: When show_downgrade_step_in_cancellation_flow is set to false, the platform allows downgrades within the cancellation flow regardless of self-editing capability settings. These two configs operate independently.
