Default recurring purchase method now configurable in Site Config

Operators can now set the default recurring purchase method at a site configuration level, giving you greater control over how supporter funds are used when subscriptions renew.

    Why this matters

Previously, all new subscriptions defaulted to the Balance recurring purchase method, meaning wallet funds (including any bonus or gift funds) would be automatically consumed on the next renewal. For operators planning to award gift or bonus funds to supporters, particularly VIPs, this created an unintended side effect: those funds could be silently spent on the next recurring purchase before the supporter had a chance to choose how to use them. This feature gives operators the ability to prevent that.

    What's new

Control the default recurring purchase method for your site

You can now configure which recurring purchase method is applied to new subscriptions by default. This setting lives in Site Config and applies platform-wide, so any new subscription created on your site will inherit your chosen default.

The three recurring purchase methods available are:

    • Balance — Uses the supporter's wallet funds first, then falls back to their default payment method
    • Fixed — Uses the supporter's default payment method only, ignoring wallet funds
    • Manual (My Funds only) — Uses wallet funds only, with no fallback to a payment method

Note: Existing subscriptions are not affected by changes to this setting. The method on existing subscriptions can still be managed individually via Admin, web, or app.

    Where to find it

Navigate to Site Config > Recurring Purchase Settings > Default recurring purchase method to update your site's default.

    Who this impacts

This feature is relevant to any operator who awards bonus or gift funds to supporters and wants to ensure those funds are not automatically consumed by recurring purchases. It's particularly useful for operators running VIP programmes where gifted funds are intended to feel like a reward rather than a credit applied to the next draw entry.
