Promotions management rebuilt in the new Admin UI

Promotions have moved to the new Admin UI, with a rebuilt list, create, edit and details experience. Search and filtering now run server-side, so the screens stay fast whether you're managing a handful of codes or hundreds of thousands.

    Why this matters

The old promotions admin was built when promotions were used occasionally - a short list of codes you could scan down and click into. That works until your code volume grows. Once a partner is running hundreds of concurrent campaigns and six figures' worth of promotional codes, paging through the list one screen at a time stops being workable, and the old search couldn't narrow it down for you.

The rebuild changes the approach: the server does the searching and filtering, so finding a specific code or cohort takes one query rather than a hunt. It's sized to handle well beyond the volumes any partner is running today.

    What's new

    Search and filter that scale

The promotions list now gives you:

    • Search by name or code across your full promotion set
    • Multi-select filters on promotion type and status, with status defaulting to Active and Scheduled so you see what's live first
    • Sortable and range-filterable dates, so you can pull up everything starting or ending in a given window
    • Proper pagination that works against large code volumes

One create form that adapts to the promotion type

Creating a promotion now uses a single type-aware form. Pick the promotion type and the form reveals only the fields that type actually needs, with validation matched to it. No hunting through irrelevant fields, and no engineering involvement to get a promotion configured.

Edit rules based on where the promotion is up to

The edit form now only exposes fields that are safe to change for the promotion's current state:

    • Scheduled promotions are fully editable
    • Active promotions allow edits to Name, Description, End date, Deposit method and Product offer. Voucher-type promotions can also have Product type and Limit changed
    • Inactive promotions can't be edited

This stops in-flight promotions being changed in ways that would break them, while still letting you fix a description or extend an end date on something that's already running.

    A clearer promotion details page

The details page gives you a type-aware summary of how the promotion is configured, plus:

    • Total claims for every promotion type
    • Balance for voucher-type promotions
    • An action to end a promotion

Adjust the Free Code Multiplier yourself

The global Free Code Multiplier, which drives Free Ticket promotion behaviour, can now be viewed and changed directly from the promotions list. Previously that needed a code release.

    Tighter validation

Several gaps in the old validation are now closed:

    • Percentage discounts are bounded to 1-100, so an over-100% discount can't be saved
    • The Free Code Multiplier is bounded to a sensible range, rather than accepting zero or negative values
    • Discount amounts, sign-up expiry and ticket quantity are now properly validated
    • Limit edits are validated for currency, and warn you if you set a limit below what's already been redeemed

Promotions created under the old rules stay editable. On edit, only the fields you've actually changed are validated against the new rules, so a legacy promotion won't be blocked by validation that didn't exist when it was made.

    What hasn't changed

    • Nothing changes for your supporters. This is an admin-side rebuild only
    • Promotion redemption is untouched. The way codes are redeemed and applied works exactly as before
    • Permissions are unchanged. Access is gated by the existing promotions permissions - PROMOTION_VIEW for reads and PROMOTIONS_CREATE for creating and editing

    Not included at launch

    • Edit history. There's no field-level audit trail of who changed what on a promotion. The action is still recorded in the operations log
    • A per-claim listing. The details page shows a total claims count rather than a browsable list of individual claims

    Who this impacts

This affects anyone who creates or manages promotions in Admin. It's already switched on, so next time you open Promotions you'll land on the new screens - the legacy pages have been replaced. There's nothing you need to do to enable it.

Your existing promotions have all carried across and are visible and editable in the new experience. Partners running large numbers of codes or many concurrent campaigns will notice the biggest difference, but the new list, create, edit and details screens apply to everyone.

The new and old promotions screens don't run side by side. When the new experience is enabled for your site, it replaces the legacy pages.
