How supporters receive and use a gift

    About gift funds

When a gift is sent, the recipient receives a dollar amount rather than a ticket. The funds land in their account as gift funds and sit alongside any other balance they hold.

There is no code to redeem and no voucher to enter. The funds are simply available at checkout.

    Receiving a gift

    Existing supporters

    • The recipient receives a Gift Received email with a link to their account.
    • On their next login, a modal appears confirming the gift has arrived.
    • They select View Wallet to see the deposit on their Bonus Funds page, or Buy Tickets to go straight to a draw.
    • The gift funds are available at checkout.

    New supporters

A recipient who does not already have an account has one created for them automatically when the gift sends. They still need to complete registration before they can spend anything.

    • The recipient receives a Gift Received email with a Complete account link.
    • They follow the link and complete the registration form. Their name and email are pre-filled from the details the sender entered.
    • On successful signup, the gift received modal appears and their funds are ready to use.
Note: Registration is not optional. A recipient who never completes it cannot spend the gift, and the funds will eventually expire.

What gift funds can be spent on

Gift funds can be put towards:

    • Lottery tickets in any open draw
    • A VIP subscription

If the gift covers the full cost of an initial VIP purchase, the recipient is not asked for a payment method at that point. They will be asked for one before the subscription renews.

Gift funds cannot be used to buy a gift for someone else, and they cannot be withdrawn as cash.

Where a purchase costs more than the gift balance, the recipient pays the difference at checkout.

    When gift funds expire

Gift funds carry an expiry date, set when the gift is created.

If any part of the gift is still unspent when the expiry date is reached, the platform reverses the unspent portion out of the recipient's account. It is not returned to the sender, and it is not held indefinitely. The reversed amount is recorded so your finance team can account for it.

Important: The expiry period is configured per partner. Gift cards are a regulated product in Australia, so confirm your expiry setting with your own legal counsel rather than assuming the platform default is appropriate. See Managing gift ticketing in Admin.

Recipients can see the expiry date against the deposit on their Bonus Funds page.

    Refunds

Where a ticket bought with gift funds is refunded, the gift portion returns to the recipient's account rather than to a card. It remains subject to the original expiry date, so a refund does not extend the life of the funds.

If the gift funds have already expired at the point the refund is processed, the gift portion is not returned to the recipient. It is reversed out in the same way as any other expired balance.

    Common questions

    QuestionAnswer
Can a recipient transfer the gift to someone else? No. Gift funds stay with the recipient they were sent to.
Can a recipient get the gift as cash? No. Gift funds are not withdrawable.
What if the gift went to the wrong email address? The gift sits with whoever holds that address. There is no self-serve fix. See Managing gift ticketing in Admin.
What if the recipient never opens the email?Nothing further is sent. There is no automatic reminder or retry, and the funds expire on schedule.
Can a recipient top up their gift funds? No, but they can pay the difference at checkout if their purchase costs more than the balance.
