New system email notification for default card changes

    Update Released : June 2024

We are excited to announce a new feature designed to improve our subscription management system's transparency and security. In response to valuable customer feedback, we have implemented a system email notification that triggers whenever there is a change in the default payment card on file.

Trigger event:The system email is triggered whenever:

    • The default card is automatically changed due to a hard decline and there is a second active card on file that gets charged for the subscription amount.
    • A manual update to the default card is made by the user by clicking on ‘change payment method’
    • The default card is removed from the account.

Notification details: The email will inform the account holder of the change, providing details of the new default card. This ensures users are immediately aware of any changes to their payment method, helping to prevent unexpected charges and maintain control over their subscriptions.

    Background:

Previously, when there was a hard decline on the default card, if there was a second active card on file, the system would automatically charge this card for the subscription amount. This process could lead to unintended charges if the user was unaware of the change in the default payment method.

    Benefits:

    • Enhanced transparency: Users will be promptly informed of any changes to their default payment method.
    • Improved security: This feature helps prevent unauthorised or unintended use of payment cards.
    • Better user experience: Customers can manage their subscriptions with greater confidence and peace of mind.

    Implementation:

The email notification feature has been integrated into the CMS and is active, you can go into

'Content management', create and enable the email.
